We are really pleased with our new driveway and front garden and how it has completely transformed both the look and accessibility of our home. After having an extension built at the back of our house, the back garden was looking pretty terrible and the area nearest the house was just mud. We asked Karen to help us with designing a terrace and steps down from the house into the garden. Having discussed the project with her, we decided to have a design drawn up for the whole of the top half of the garden. Karen did a site survey before working on the new design. Over the autumn and winter of last year we had Karen’s design built and are now it’s spring [2011] we are enjoying our beautiful new garden. We found Karen very straight forward to work with. Her prices and what you get for your money are clearly set out and we’re delighted with the design and how well it relates to the architecture of the house.

We had a real problem, a large flat green field of a garden with no flower beds, a few shrubs and a hedge on both sides. We inherited a small piece of block paving outside our kitchen door and did not know how to go forward. We found Karen just by chance and she has been brilliant. She listened, made suggestions, drafted some ideas for discussion, refined those ideas, assisted us with finding a good landscaping contractor, project managed all the way through the project, was always positive, always helpful and at the end of the project we had a stunning layout which has subsequently won the top award at the Professional Landscaping competition in London. Her ability and vision to see beyond our flat uninteresting piece of garden has been fantastic. We would have no hesitation in recommending Karen to anyone with a garden challenge, whether small or large. She has a wealth of information and a wealth of experience to share.”

When we initially contacted Karen, we didn’t know what we wanted or where to start, just that our ordinary sized garden looked tired and uninspiring, and we had lost enthusiasm in maintaining it. On her first visit, Karen listened really carefully to our rambling thoughts and comments, and offered different ideas. She quickly picked up what was bugging us, and teased out what we would ideally like. She then created a design that turned the garden round and gave us completely different perspectives – literally – and combined the visual requirements with the productive/edible ones! We were on a tight budget, and the beauty of her design was that we could break it down into separate, smaller projects and tackle some aspects of it ourselves. In the discussions we had as the design evolved, she gave us lots of practical advice and guidance, and we had a great time last summer sourcing materials and visiting other gardens. This year the whole thing continues to shape up, and gardening is enjoyable again! The newsletter is also great, and hopefully, I’ll get to go on one of the workshops soon.”
